January 30th - March 6th: New Works by Melanie Rocan

Melanie Rocan graduated in 2003 with a bachelor of fine arts honours degree from of the University of Manitoba. In 2005 she was selected for an exchange program with the Glasgow school of Art, in Scotland and in 2008 she completed her Masters of Fine Arts, at Concordia University, in Montreal. Since 2003 her work has been included in many exhibitions across Canada including a painting survey exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, in Toronto, a currated MFA exhibition at the Leonard & Bina Ellen gallery, in Montreal, Supernovas at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Young Winnipeg Artists at the Plug-In contemporary art gallery, in Winnipeg, as well as an RBC painting competition exhibition which traveled to galleries across Canada including the Contemporary Museum in Montreal and the Contemporary Art Gallery of Vancouver. Melanie has had solo-exhibitions at Paul Petro Contemporary Art in Toronto and at La Maison des Artistes Visuels Francophones, which were reviewed in Bordercrossings magazine and the Globe and Mail. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants from the Canada Council, Manitoba and Winnipeg Arts Council.
